Charm Kitty Cafe to come to Hampden

BALTIMORE — New business would partner with Baltimore Humane Society.

If you like cats, you’re going to love this. A cat cafe is coming to Baltimore.

Cam Tucker is a young entrepreneur with a degree in engineering and a business owner with a brand new idea for Baltimore: the Charm Kitty Café, which is set to open later this year.

“You come hang out with cats,” Tucker said. “We’ll go get your coffee (and) maybe a few snacks and you just hang out.”

Tucker launched a campaign on Kickstarter for the business and now he is working with the developers of Whitehall Mill, an eco-friendly, mixed-use development in Hampden on plans for the new space.

All of the cats at the café will be up for adoption from the Baltimore Humane Society.

“That opens up ten more spaces for us at the shelter,” Baltimore Humane Society spokeswoman Wendy Goldband said. “This also give us the opportunity to do other types of fundraising here. We’ll be able to do fun events here.”

Tucker said the cafe will offer coffee and pre-packaged snacks from local vendors. He is working with the Baltimore Health Department, and he knows not everyone will be on board with the idea…
